Discipleship Course: A Catholic Understanding of the Bible
This 3-session adult formation program will introduce the Catholic approach to Sacred Scripture and show how this understanding can deepen both personal prayer and future Bible study.
WHEN: August 4, August 11, & August 18 | 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
WHERE: St. Patrick Parish Center
Session Topics
- Encountering Jesus Christ — August 4
- Explore how Christ is the heart of all Scripture and how the Bible becomes a living encounter with Him. The Church has a clear pathway for reading Scripture in the Catholic tradition. We will look at that pathway and learn how to apply it in your personal life.
- Exploring the Old Testament — August 11
- Understand the story of salvation history and how the Old Testament prepares the way for Christ. A look at why Catholic Bibles have more books in the Old Testament than Protestant Bibles.
- Exploring the New Testament — August 18
- Dive into the Gospels, the early Church, and how the New Testament continues to shape Christian life today. Catholics have a deeply personal relationship between the Scriptures and the Liturgy. Did you know that in the Catholic Liturgy (Mass) the Bible is quoted almost 100 times?
