Father Jerry passed away on this day four years ago, and we ask for you to join us in praying for his soul, his family and friends, as well as all of those he served during his life.
Like Father Matt, he was born and grew up in Pennsylvania. Ordained with his twin brother, Father John Zalonis, he first came to the area in 1960 when he was assigned to St. Mary Parish in Plano. He then was assigned to be a pastor in Wisconsin for a number of years before returning to serve at St. Mary in Plano, and then St. Patrick Parish, then in Bristol.
He led the project of building a new church for the parish in Yorkville, dedicated in 2002. He spent nearly 60 years serving the people of his parishes, and for all the lives he touched, we offer our thanks in prayer.
